Arts education and community arts

This section is new: I'll be adding more projects...

My first arts education projects introduced students to visual communication and graphic design. I developed a presentation that was tailored to primary school children and students up to the age of 19 which became the basis of logo, poster and packaging design projects. I was employed as an artist for the government-backed Flux project, attached to the newly-built Isambard Community School, which sought to help build a community in a new housing development in North Swindon through the arts. I led the project to design the new school's logo with Year 6 students (who would become the school's first intake), two year's of after-school drawing club and, although I am not a qualified teacher, taught Art and Design & Technology lessons part-time for one year until the school grew sufficiently for a 'proper' teacher to be employed full-time. In 2009 I worked voluntarily in Mexico and then wrote curriculum based workshops for secondary and primary students. I also co-organised a community arts event, gaining private and public funding.
