Kate Parsons is a creative thinker!
A bit of background...
Kate has worked within the creative industries for around twenty years. She holds BA Graphic Design from Birmingham Institute of Art & Design and a Master’s degree in International Design and Communication Management, sparked by her interest in languages (Kate speaks fluent German and ‘not bad’ Spanish) and her experience working for global corporation Texas Instruments as Principal European Designer in Germany.
Self-employed for the last twelve years Kate's skills have grown to encompass design and illustration; art direction, marketing strategy and copywriting, as well as lots of organisational and budgeting etc skills. Kate’s currently working on a year-long, part-time contract at Oxford University’s Development Office researching, writing and designing philanthropic proposals and reports for the University’s ‘Oxford Thinking’ fundraising campaign.
Based in Swindon – Kate has previously worked twice in Germany, and for shorter periods in the USA and Mexico. Her clients are predominantly small business for whom she provides a ‘complete agency’ design-led marketing service. Kate also works for larger organisations including Dolby (design), Zurich Financial Services (art direction and strategy via their agency RRDonnelly) and English Heritage (illustration).
Kate has worked in education since first teaching English to foreign students aged 17. She now works as an arts educator and has written education programmes and delivered workshops in design and the visual arts, as well as staging community arts events for drawing and samba (she’s a founder member of Swindon Samba).
In short: Kate takes on a myriad of creative roles (in 2008 becoming a part-time KS2/3 teacher on invitation of the headteacher impressed by her workshops for the students), and feels she’s capable of taking on more. Less a jack of all trades, more a pragmatic and capable creative all-rounder
